The city of Moreno Valley held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Flight Deck Bike Park last month.

The Dec. 18 event at the park, 13460 Morrison St., featured light refreshments, a resource fair, helmet and shirt giveaways as well as providing a limited number of bicycles available for visitors to borrow during the celebration.

Flight Deck Bike Park features the largest Velosolutions pump track in Southern California and includes the region’s first adaptive track for riders of all abilities, according to the city. The park also offers the first asphalt jump lines in SoCal along with an asphalt bicycle playground designed for young riders.

A 1,000-foot connecting path incorporates Ambient Glow Technology that uses sunlight-charged glow rocks to illuminate the trail during the night. This feature marks the first use of this technology in Southern California.

“This is such an exciting new feature that we are adding to the City’s growing list of attractions and destinations for our residents, visitors, and especially our youth,” Mayor Ulises Cabrera said in a statement. “The Flight Deck is yet another example of Moreno Valley integrating both innovation and groundbreaking technology into our community’s amenities.”

John Hunter, CEO of American Ramp Company, the firm that designed and supervised the construction of the park, welcomed the facility’s opening.

“Our team loves being part of projects like this,” he said in a statement. “When a client and a community are willing to push creative limits to build a unique and engaging space, the outcome is something that makes a lasting impact. This park was designed and built with progression in mind, and it delivers something for every rider.”

Flight Deck Bike Park is on the southern side of Morrison Park near the fire station.

“Inspired by the city’s aviation heritage, the park was designed to offer a cycling experience that provides a welcoming environment for riders of all ages, abilities, and skill levels,” according to city officials.
