The Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) Older Adult Program has returned to the Expo Arts Center (4321 Atlantic Ave.) after temporarily pausing in August 2025 for building renovations. The Older Adult Program at Expo Arts Center is now available Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will offer adults ages 50 years and older a variety of activities designed to enhance their mental, physical and social wellbeing.
The free Older Adult Program provides a safe, inclusive environment where older adults can stay active and foster connections. The program, which is offered at six senior centers citywide, offers activities and programming ranging from arts and cultural experiences, dance, fitness, learning and enrichment opportunities, health and social services, excursions, drop-in and special events, volunteerism and special interest groups. Each location offers a unique set of activities and programming.
The Expo Arts Center location will now continue to offer monthly programming such as Book Club, Social Time Games and Cards, Freestyle Art and Coloring, Soul Tai Chi, Yoga, Reflections Class, Birthday Bingo, Aerobics, Line Dancing, Acrylic Painting, Arts and Crafts Class and Arts Workshops, as well as free lunch on most days.
The Older Adult Program is offered at the following locations:
- California Recreation Center at McBride Park (1550 Martin Luther King Jr Ave.), Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- El Dorado Park West (2800 N. Studebaker Rd.), Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Expo Arts Center, Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.), Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Long Beach Senior Center (1150 E. 4th St.), Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Silverado Park (1545 W. 31stSt.), Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Renovations at the Expo Arts Center included new LED lighting, rooftop solar panels and new carpeting. Participants enrolled in the Older Adult Program at Expo Arts Center were referred to the other five program sites while renovations were taking place.
