ArtNight Pasadena returns Oct. 10

ArtNight Pasadena returns on Friday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 10 p.m., offering free admission to 18 arts and cultural venues citywide.

Two organizations are new to this year’s ArtNight — Fulcrum Arts and Pasadena Heritage. Organizers highlighted these fall programs:

  • Fulcrum Arts — experience the Mushroom Boat’s journey across the Catalina Channel;
  • For artistic dreams and nightmares, visit Light Bringer Project’s interactive outdoor art installation;
  • The Pasadena Playhouse hosts a public sing-along of show tunes in the courtyard;
  • Four galleries at the Art Center College of Design will feature Japanese car culture, deep sea mining, images from the Capuchin catacombs and a look at cursive writing across 40 countries;
  • The Pasadena Conservatory of Music presents a night of multicultural music at the conservatory’s new campus;
  • For a seasonal mood set by spooky puppets, music and art activities, visit the City Hall Hub;
  • Exhibitions and art activities guided by teaching artists will be at the Armory Center for the Arts;
  • Explore 1,300 years of cultural exchange on China’s Silk Road at the USC Pacific Asia Museum;
  • A Batchelder tile exhibition with storytelling is from ArtNight’s new partner Pasadena Heritage;
  • Sneak a peek at Boston Court’s set for a production of Tennessee Williams’ “Night of the Iguana,” along with music and visual art;
  • Alkebu-lan Cultural Center will have live painting and music;
  • Readings of haunting tales for all ages are set to takes place at Red Hen Press;
  • Gallery exhibitions at Pasadena City College “focus on decorative and functional sculptural objects as well as private collections,” organizers said, adding that “student performances are included”;
  • Remainders Creative Reuse will have craft activities for all ages, a gallery exhibition and Capoeira dancing; and
  • Visit artWORKS Teen Center for interactive screen-printing workshops.

The event is partially funded by the city’s Arts and Culture Commission, which provides small grants to support arts groups and individual artists.

Organizers said the event will feature food trucks at many locations including City Hall and offer Braille versions of the ArtNight brochure.
