The city of Corona has invited the public for a guided hike of the Tin Mine Canyon Trail on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7:30 a.m., where Corona park rangers and volunteers will discuss the geography of the Inland Empire, how mountain ranges affect wind patterns and temperatures, how rocks are formed and how animal inhabitants have adapted to the environment.
This hike will be about 3 miles of mostly flat terrain with some increase in elevation, officials said.
“Inclement weather may postpone or cancel the hike and wildlife sightings are not guaranteed,” according to a city statement. “Park rangers will provide guidance if any hazardous conditions are encountered.”
Young hikers age 5 or older are welcome to participate with their parents, and the pace will be determined by based on the participants, officials said. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the hike.
Hikers should have their own water bottle, sunscreen, hike-appropriate attire such as a hat, boots that are slip resistant and walking sticks, along with optional binoculars.
Hike participants must sign a liability waiver. Hikers under 18 require a parent or guardian’s signature on their waivers, officials said. An email confirmation will go out to registered hikers on Aug. 20.
