Ontario Art Book Fair to be held March 29

The Department of Museum, Arts & Culture will once again host the Ontario Art Book Fair on Saturday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free one-day event showcases regional artists’ books, catalogues, monographs, periodicals, and zines. The museum will open its art galleries to fifty exhibitors including publishing houses, independent press collectives, artists, zine-makers, printmakers, and individuals practicing in experimental paper formats.

“The Ontario Art Book Fair serves as a vibrant hub for artistic expression, bringing together works from diverse artists and publishers, fostering creativity, and building connections within the artistic community through its rich display of unique creations,” said Rebecca Ustrell, Museum, Arts & Culture event coordinator.

The event highlights exhibitors from the West Coast with an emphasis on California-based artists and publishers. Highlights include:

  • Publications on photography, illustration, comics, rare and out of print ephemera, zines, poetry, and artists’ writings.
  • Special programming, such as: a presentation on the history of zines hosted by the Ontario City Library and LA Public Libraries, a thread-bound zine workshop, and a lecture where you can learn techniques to archive your content for print projects.
  • An interactive art installation where visitors can add to a community collage by local artist Willis Salomon.
  • Original illustrations by our featured artist, Cheyne Ellett will also be on display throughout the exhibitor space.

The event and programming activities are free for all ages. Original books, zines, and art prints will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be available on site for purchase throughout the day. To learn more visit OntarioMuseum.org.

The Ontario Museum of History & Art is located at 225 S. Euclid Ave., Ontario. The hours are Thursday to Friday, noon to 4 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the museum and exhibits is free.
