Construction started last week on Anaheim’s newest fire station and the city’s first in the fast-growing area around Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Fire Station 12 is going up in a city-owned parking lot near the stadium and is set to open in mid-2026.

The Anaheim Fire & Rescue station is being built on 1.4 acres at 1822 S. State College Boulevard, south of Katella Avenue and next to the 1818 Platinum Triangle apartments.

It will be made up of a main 10,400-square-foot building and a second 2,195-square-foot building for ambulances and other equipment.

The station is set to cost $13 million to $15 million to build with work being done by AWI Builders Inc. of Pico Rivera.

The new station will cut area medical and fire response times by half or more.

The nearest stations today are at State College Boulevard and Ball Road, about 2 miles away, and in The Anaheim Resort, also about 2 miles away.

The Platinum Triangle is home to Angel Stadium, Honda Center, City National Grove of Anaheim, ARTIC and apartments, offices and businesses.

Since the 2000s, the Platinum Triangle has been transforming from a once industrial area to an urban village built around sports, entertainment and transit.

Work on OCVibe, a $4 billion project around Honda Center, is in early construction with development of hotels, music venues, restaurants, shopping, homes, office and open space coming in the next few years.

“Nearly 10,000 Anaheim residents now call the Platinum Triangle home with thousands more to come in the years ahead,” Mayor Ashleigh Aitken said. “Station 12 will bring reassurance for everyone in the Platinum Triangle, from those living right next door in some of Anaheim’s most modern apartments, to the cheering fans at Angel games and all that is to come with OCVibe.”

This will be the city’s first new station since 2018’s Fire Station 5 opened along La Palma Avenue, replacing an existing, outdated station.

Anaheim Fire & Rescue is Orange County’s largest city fire and medical services agency, with more than 200 sworn firefighters and paramedics and more than 50 engines and other vehicles.
