New equipment coming to the Duarte Fitness Center

New exercise equipment is on its way to the Duarte Fitness Center. At its regular meeting on Jan. 14, the Duarte City Council approved the updated project costs and discussed next steps for the Fitness Center Equipment Replacement Project.

“This project is an excellent example of staying true to our City of Health motto, and I’m excited to continue to work with Parks and Recreation to keep this project moving forward,” said Mayor Cesar A. Garcia. “The wellbeing of our residents is incredibly important, and we are dedicated to providing a safe and upgraded space for them to exercise.”

The focus will be on replacing the cardio equipment. This includes: four treadmills, two ellipticals, a Heat Row machine, and the replacement of the existing Recumbent Lifecycle Bike, Upright Lifecycle Bike, and Stairmaster, totaling 10 new cardio machines.

As for the strength equipment replacement, this includes like-for-like replacements with the addition of a new Hammer Strength Perimeter Dual Cable machine, which will feature storage shelves for new kettlebells, a wooden box, slam balls, and resistance tubes and bands. The improvements are projected to start at the end of May.

To maximize the safety of the exercise room within the Fitness Center, the entire flooring will be replaced with Everlast Fitness Flooring, which is durable, slip-resistant, and ideal for fitness environments. Currently, the floor is a mix of carpet and Everlast composition rubber flooring.

The city will continue to provide updates on AccessDuarte.com and social media platforms as new information becomes available. If you have any questions, contact the Duarte Fitness Center at (626) 357-6118.
