The City of Burbank and the Burbank Animal Shelter are aware of a scam involving the shelter’s phone number, (818) 238-3340. Multiple residents have reported receiving fraudulent calls falsely claiming they must pay $2,000 to prevent their pet from being euthanized. According to city officials, this is a scam.
The Burbank Animal Shelter will never call residents to demand payment over the phone.
If you’re targeted, hang up immediately, do not engage or send money, and report the scan to the Burbank Animal Shelter at (818) 238-3340 and to the Burbank Police Department at (818) 238-3000.
