Los Angeles Union Station is set to host a day of holiday festivities at the ninth annual tree lighting on Nov. 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the station’s historic Ticket Concourse.

The tree lighting will be the first time that section of the station has been open to the public during the holiday season.

The event will feature a live music from the Kingston Ska Collective with members of Western Standard Ska Orchestra and Los Rebeldes Romanticos presented by Metro Art. Santa Claus and elves will also be available for photos in the station’s Waiting Room.

A new to feature to this year’s holiday line-up, the North Patio will become the North Pole where families can enjoy arts and crafts, milk and cookies, holiday characters and more. The North Pole attraction is sponsored by McDonald’s of Southern California.

The highlight of the tree-lighting ceremony will be Santa, with help from Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins, leading guests in a festive countdown culminating in a lit-up 30-foot evergreen.

Event attendees will get to see Union Station’s elaborate holiday decor that includes “the glistening exterior where palm trees line the station’s grand entrance to the majestic interior where thousands of gleaming lights, oversized trees, giant ornaments and bold wreaths adorn the station’s Ticket Concourse and Waiting Room,” according to station officials.

The event is free for all ages and open to the public. Attendees must RSVP at eventbrite.com.

In addition, the Los Angeles Conservancy will do 90-minute Holidays at Union Station tours on Dec. 5, 12 and 19 starting at 5:30 p.m. Online registration is required.
