On Monday, the City of Baldwin Park will host its 33rd Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Cesar E. Chavez Amphitheater at Morgan Park (4100 Baldwin Park Blvd). The ceremony honoring local veterans will begin at 1 p.m. and feature military traditions, live entertainment and free food and refreshments.

“On behalf of the City of Baldwin Park, I’d like to thank the courageous individuals across all branches of the military who have given so much to protect our freedoms,” said Mayor Emmanuel J. Estrada. “The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony is an important opportunity for our community to come together and show our appreciation for these brave men and women.”

The ceremony will begin with the Presentation of Colors, followed by the city honoring U.S. Army Specialist Eduardo Olmos and U.S. Army Private First Class Alfred R. Gutierrez with a plaque for their service. Local and state officials will recognize all of Baldwin Park’s veterans in attendance. The city will also honor those military heroes who did not return home with a special remembrance table for prisoners of war and military personnel who are missing in action. Participants are encouraged to visit the onsite Veterans Resource Fair at noon for important information on resources available to veterans.

From 2 to 3 p.m., attendees can enjoy a musical performance by The Hollywood Dolls, an Andrews Sisters tribute act singing ’40s big band favorites and patriotic songs. Following the ceremony, the city will provide free tacos for all attendees.

Military guests are encouraged to dress in uniform. The city also encourages community members to bring military memorabilia, including veteran photos, medals, mementos, etc., to share at the Veterans Memorabilia Exhibit.
