The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors recently awarded an approximately $1.1 million construction contract to KNC Construction for the revitalization of the Mojave Narrows Regional Park equestrian facilities. The Project and Facilities Management Department is leading the project to restore and expand the park’s equestrian amenities, which have been closed due to extensive damage.

As part of the project, a prefabricated equestrian barn with four horse stalls and a storage room will be installed. Additionally, two existing horse corrals will be demolished and replaced. The upgrades will also include water and electrical improvements, more water troughs, hitching posts and seating areas.

“The renovations at Mojave Narrows are a vital step in meeting the needs of our diverse and growing visitor base, said Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “By enhancing our equestrian facilities, we are ensuring that everyone—from seasoned riders to families looking for weekend adventures—can enjoy the full breadth of what our parks have to offer.”

Mojave Narrows Regional Park is a popular destination for camping, fishing, hiking and other outdoor recreation activities, and it has seen a significant increase in the number of visitors in recent years. The addition of the barn and corrals will complement the existing equestrian trails and enhance the park’s features for Victorville residents, campers and day visitors.

“Our vision is to honor the legacy of Mojave Narrows while also looking to the future,” said Chief of Project Management Sarah Riley. “We want to ensure that every visitor, whether they ride or just appreciate the equestrian lifestyle, feels welcomed and inspired to explore.”

Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the project is budgeted for $1.9 million.

The revitalization of Mojave Narrows Regional Park aligns with the Countywide Vision by connecting and beautifying communities through shared open spaces.
