Duarte Halloween events start Sunday with Floating Pumpkin Patch
It isn’t just “’witch-ful’ thinking” that Duarte residents can expect a giant cauldron’s worth of spooky fun at this year’s family-friendly events hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department, city officials said.
The Floating Pumpkin Patch event returns to the Duarte Pool, 1600 Huntington Drive, where attendees “can make a splash” and pick a pumpkin from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, organizers said. “Designed for the whole family, this fun-filled event will include a pumpkin of your choice, the option to accessorize it at the decoration station, and the opportunity to compete in a pumpkin decorating contest.”
The Floating Pumpkin Patch will also have fall crafts for youths and festive treats while supplies last.
Advanced registration was required and was available until Thursday on ActiveNet Portal, organizers said. Fees for the event were $5 per youth resident and $10 per youth nonresident.
On Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Royal Oaks Park, 2627 Royal Oaks Drive, eventgoers can show off their best costumes at the Halloween Howl. The free, annual event will include a ton of Halloween fun with a special trick-or-treat lane, spooky crafting stations, a fun inflatable zone and prizes for the night’s best costume winners according to age group.
Registration and check-in for the costume contest will be on-site between 5 and 6 p.m. The “furry friends category” starts the costume contest at 6 p.m.
“Dogs at the event must remain on a leash at all times,” officials said in a statement.
