MADIA Tech report: Investing in the healthcare industry can be disruptive, Wavemaker Three-Sixty thinks that’s a good thing

Innovation is a good thing, but we don’t always think about how new ideas can be very disruptive, changing the established ways of doing things. And with that disruption, at least in the healthcare industry, can come with new revenue streams, better outcomes, and more satisfied customers — if there is good guidance to avoid the risks that come with upsetting the apple cart.

Coordinating such disruptive activities is a specialty of Jay Goss, the general partner of Wavemaker Three-Sixty (www.Wavemaker360.com) an investment organization that supports creative entrepreneurs and guides them in the development of new ideas, products, and services in the healthcare industry.

Goss is the featured speaker at the next meeting of MADIA Tech Launch on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Tanner Research (1851 Huntington Drive, Duarte) where he will share the why and how his health-tech venture fund thinks and operates.

Spoiler alert: Wavemaker Three-Sixty Health brings together experienced healthcare professionals to vet new ideas and create a network of support that will help take that crazy new idea to the market place and then supports the entrepreneur to success.

The healthcare industry is a rapidly evolving field, driven by many factors: technology innovations such as robotics and artificial intelligence; scientific advances such as genetic discoveries and customized medicine; and a changing healthcare delivery system (consider the telehealth models created during the COVID crisis). Innovators who understand how these changes present opportunities are the successful entrepreneurs of the future.

The public is invited to this MADIA Tech Launch meeting: tickets are $19 in advance to attend the meeting and enjoy a buffet dinner from Little Green Forks. A free Zoom option is available and requires advance registration. Student tickets are also available for a substantial discount. Visit the MADIA website www.MADIAtech.org for a link to Eventbrite ticket sales.

MADIA Tech Launch Inc. is a career, company, and industry incubator, established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and providing educational services to the region’s technical, scientific, and industrial workforce. The region is centered within and surrounding the cities of Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa, and Glendora.
