Caltrans has announced a series of nighttime closures starting Monday for median barrier work along Interstate 10 between Alhambra and El Monte that were likely to cause delays.

The closures are scheduled to last until Friday and are from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, according to Caltrans. The closures include:

  • the Express Lanes and up to three lanes of westbound I-10 between the 605 and 710 freeway interchanges; and
  • the Express Lanes and up to three lanes of eastbound I-10 between the 605 and 710.

The media work is weather permitting, and all dates and times for the lane closures are subject to change, officials said. Residents and businesses located near the freeway were advised to expect noise and vibrations from construction work.

“Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes,” according to a Caltrans statement. “Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap (quickmap.dot.ca.gov).”

The $15.2 million project will increase the concrete median’s height to meet current design standards at 23 locations along I-10 between 605 and 710 freeways
