Burbank to relaunch Residents Inspiring Service and Empowerment
Burbank is relaunching the Residents Inspiring Service and Empowerment, or RISE program for the class of 2025.
The announcement marked official return after a three-year break of this leadership program administered by the Burbank Parks and Recreation Department.
“RISE provides a wide range of opportunities for Burbank residents to enhance their leadership skills,” according to a city statement.
The free 10-week course “is designed to inspire leadership, empower residents and foster constructive dialogue to invigorate civic engagement,” officials said. “Participants will broaden their understanding of the city and its resources while connecting to City of Burbank officials, as well as local nonprofits and businesses.”
Adults 18 or older, including seniors in high school, who are interested to working to foster positive change in their communities through service and empowerment were encouraged to apply.
Program sessions take place Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30 p.m., starting Feb. 19 and concluding with a graduation ceremony on May 10.
On Friday the city will begin accepting applications, which must be received no later than Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
