Ontario Recreation & Community Services celebrates Parks and Recreation Month
The Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department is celebrating Parks and Recreation Month throughout July.
Parks and Recreation Month is an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) that invites the community to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation means to them.
This year’s theme, “Ontario Is Where You Belong,” highlights the Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department’s programs, services, and safe spaces for people of all ages and abilities, promoting community connection.
The Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department operates six community centers and a senior center, and provides programming in over 30 parks and three dog parks.
“Parks and Recreation Month highlights the contributions and transformative impact of parks and recreation. The Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department remains dedicated to nurturing community connections and promoting outdoor enjoyment through a variety of recreational activities and park amenities, ensuring accessible opportunities to everybody for fun and engagement,” said Nicholas Gonzalez, Recreation & Community Services Director.
NRPA and the Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department encourage everyone who supports parks and recreation to share how it has fostered belonging and why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them on social media with #OntarioIsWhereIBelong.
Residents can learn more about recreational programs, classes, activities, and special events by visiting www.OntarioCA.gov/Recreation or by contacting the Recreation & Community Services Department at (909) 395-2020.
