Monrovia Days — the annual community birthday bash that celebrates young Monrovians — kicks off Thursday evening on Myrtle Avenue in the city’s Old Town section.
“Scholars and Champions” from the Monrovia Unified School District will take part in the Monrovia Days Parade starting at 7 p.m. on Myrtle at Olive Avenue and will proceed northbound to Library Park.
On Friday, the festival features the Friends of the Library Book Sale; the MUSD pep rally and youth performances; carnival rides, food and games; and live entertainment by top-40s band Bumptown.
Saturday’s events include the continuing book sale, food vending and carnival attractions; youth performances by Centre Stage, Inc. and MUSD students; the Parade Awards Ceremony from 4:30-5 p.m.; Merengue Bakery’s famous pie-eating contest; and live music from Motown-style band Stone Soul.
Monrovia Days concludes Sunday with carnival attractions and food plus live performances by Centre Stage, Inc. and blues-rock-funk band OC Grove.
