LA Zoo to launch ‘Wild Weekends’ starting Feb. 17

Weekends at the L.A. Zoo are about to get wild, as officials announced a series of special entertainment, activities and educational opportunities that start Feb. 17 and will take place over the next couple of months.

The L.A. Zoo’s Wild Weekends events will be included with daytime admission and for zoo members. The first event is a Lunar New Year celebration set for Feb. 17-18.

Zoo officials will organize a several activities and performances, including a demonstration by Wushu Shaolin Entertainment, which will demonstrate martial arts, dragon dances, calligraphy and other cultural activities. Attendees will be able to enjoy a spotlight on animals of the Chinese zodiac, and participate in the tradition of adding their hopes for the New Year to the Wall of Well Wishes.

In the final weekend of March 28-31, the zoo will host its Spring Fling. Visitors will be able to enjoy education stations, pollinator activities, live story readings, honey tasting and special animal feedings. Returning this year will also be a special photo opportunity with Big Bunny.

To wrap up Wild Weekends, the zoo will host Wild for the Planet on April 20-21. The theme of the event will honor Earth Day. Attendees will be able to participate in interactive activities, enjoy live entertainment with 3rd Rock Hip Hop, honey tasting and presentations highlighting the zoo’s conservation efforts.
