Authorities Wednesday identified a man who was fatally shot in Monrovia over the weekend.

Police were called at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the 100 block of East Olive Avenue, where they found the victim in a rear parking lot with gunshot wounds to the upper body, said Lt. Omar Camacho of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Ahmed Marwan Najjar, 27, of Glendora, died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Officials said there were multiple calls of a fight at the same location. It was unclear what prompted the dispute. No arrests were reported.

Sheriff’s detectives were assisting Monrovia police in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous callers may contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or tips may be sent to lacrimestoppers.org.
