The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday extended a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person, or people, responsible for a 2018 killing in a San Dimas park.
Michael Moreno, 35, was talking with friends in Pioneer Park on Dec. 23, 2018, when he fatally shot by an unknown assailant.
Sheriff’s deputies were still investigating whether the shooting was gang-related, but they do not believe Moreno was the intended target of the shooting, authorities said. Moreno had no gang affiliations.
Relatives described Moreno as a “gentle giant” and a “giant teddy bear.”
“Michael’s life was violently ended by criminals who are still on the loose and haven’t faced consequences for their actions,” Supervisor Kathryn Barger wrote in a statement following the board’s vote. “I stand with his family members who deserve answers, closure, and justice. I’m extending this $10,000 reward with the hope that someone will have the courage to step forward.”
