Palm Springs expects about 20,000 spectators Friday for its 25th annual Veterans Day Parade.

Before the start of the parade, themed “Honoring All Who Served,” the Palm Springs High School Madrigal Singers will perform “Here’s to the Heroes” at the opening ceremony at Amado Road and Palm Canyon Drive at 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to a statement from the city.

The parade will begin on South Palm Canyon Drive at West Ramon Road and head north. It will end at Alejo Road. Corporal Dorothee Irwin, a WWII Veteran and her son, Lt. Colonel Jim Irwin, will be featured in this year’s parade, city officials said.

The city also invites veterans from the Korean War era and the Vietnam War era to march and participate at the end of the parade.

Veterans interested in participating were asked to show up to the parade staging in the intersection of West Ramon Road and North Palm Canyon Drive by 3 p.m., according to city officials.

“This entry marches at the end of the parade to remind everyone that no American veteran will ever be forgotten or abandoned again,” city officials said in a statement.

When the parade ends, the PSHS Spirit of the Sands Band will perform a patriotic concert on the corner of North Palm Canyon Drive and West Amado Road, city officials said. The performance will be followed with a fireworks finale.

Sponsors for the parade include PS Resorts, Agua Caliente Tribal Council, Palm Springs Disposal Services, Matich Corporation, Desert Care Network, Jessup Auto Plaza, Keenan and Associates, Dokken Engineering, Donna MacMillan, Burrtec, Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez and Tom Martin.
