Rock Hall of Fame induction set for 1st ceremony in LA since 2013

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will host its first induction ceremony in Los Angeles since 2013 on Saturday with appearances by Bruce Springsteen and Olivia Rodrigo, among others.

Members of the Rock Hall’s class of 2022 set to be inducted during the 8 p.m. Microsoft Theater ceremony are Carly Simon, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie. Judas Priest, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, singer-activist Harry Belafonte, folk great Elizabeth Cotton, deal-maker Allen Grubman, producer-label founder Jimmy Iovine and artist-executive Sylvia Robinson will also be honored.

“This diverse group of inductees each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock & roll,” said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “Their music moved generations and influenced so many artists that followed.”

To be eligible, artists are required to have released their first record 25 years prior to induction. Eminem, Duran Duran, Parton, Richie and Simon were on the ballot for the first time this year, while 2022 is Eminem’s first year of eligibility. It is also the first year in the hall’s 37-year history that six female acts will be inducted in one class.

The inductees in the performer category are Benatar and her musical partner Neil Giraldo, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Parton, Richie and Simon.

The musical excellence award will go to Judas Priest and Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis.

The early influence award will be given to Belafonte and Cotton.

The Ahmet Ertegun award for influential nonperformers will go to Grubman, Iovine and Robinson.

Fans will be able to view the ceremony Nov. 19 on HBO. But celebrity arrivals for Saturday night’s event will be live-streamed beginning at 5 p.m. at rockfa.me/redcarpet.
