The Rock has knocked Michael Myers from atop the box office heap, as “Black Adam” opened with $67 million to lead all films in North America, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

The DC Comics adaptation beat out another film opening this week, the Julia Roberts-George Clooney vehicle “Ticket to Paradise,” which took in $16.3 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.

Horror films took the next two spots with Halloween weekend fast approaching. “Smile” was third with $8.3  million in its fourth week in theaters. “Halloween Ends” slipped to fourth place with $8 million, one week after opening in first place with over $41 million.

Fifth place at the box office went to family film “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile,” which grossed $4.2 million in its third week.
