A problem with a freezer compressor Wednesday resulted in the evacuation of a CVS store in Playa Vista, authorities said.

The problem, involving a product that was discharged, was reported about 11 a.m. in the 12700 block of West Jefferson Boulevard, according to the Los Angles Fire Department.

“LAFD personnel, including hazardous materials experts, determined the cause of (a) `light haze’ to be associated with a store freezer compressor,” an LAFD statement said.

“There is no further hazardous material release within the one-story CVS commercial store and the building has been fully ventilated,” the LAFD reported. “One person was medically evaluated for an exposure but (declined) transportation to a local hospital.”

The business was closed as a precaution, and personnel from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health were notified to assesses the building, the LAFD reported.
