Missing man suffering from schizophrenia last seen near Quartz Hill

Authorities sought the public’s help Thursday in locating a 37-year-old man they said has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and autism and went missing near Quartz Hill.

Joel Andrew Lopez was last seen at 8 a.m. on the 4000 block of West Avenue L12 on Sept. 8, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Lopez is Latino, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds, has brown eyes, brown buzzed cut hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans and has a possible destination of Sixth Street E/Palmdale Boulevard or Third Street E/Palmdale Boulevard in Palmdale.

Anyone with information about Lopez or knows of his whereabouts was asked to call the Sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
