A Metrolink train struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday in the Van Nuys area.
Paramedics sent to the 7900 block of North Orion Avenue about 5:45 a.m. pronounced the person dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Information on the identity of the fatally injured person was not immediately available.
The person was struck by Metrolink train 100, eastbound on the Ventura County Line, in a “non-pedestrian” area between the Northridge and Van Nuys stations, according to Scott Johnson of Metrolink.
All rail traffic was stopped in the area, and delays were expected, Johnson said.
The circumstances of the death were under investigation.
