After battling heavy flames for nearly an hour and a half, firefighters contained and extinguished a fire Wednesday in Koreatown.
Firefighters responded at 2:16 a.m. to 603 S. Mariposa Ave. near Wilshire Boulevard and Normandie Avenue where they found flames coming from the roof of a two-story commercial building and quickly began defensive maneuvers to get control of the flames, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
It took 88 firefighters 89 minutes to put out the fire.
Hours before, fire crews had responded to and extinguished a fire Tuesday night at the same location.
The department’s Arson Investigation Section is investigating the cause of the fire, Prange said.
Firefighters will remain on scene for an extended period of time to ensure all smoldering debris and remaining hot spots are eliminated, according to Prange.
