A 24-year-old man suspected of raping a woman in Burbank was arrested Wednesday.
Burbank Police Department officers were called about 4:45 a.m. Monday to a residence in the 400 block of South Third Street, near the Golden State (5) Freeway, on reports of the assault and made contact with the victim, who told police she was assaulted in her bedroom by a man she did not know who fled the scene following a struggle.
Investigators canvassed the area for evidence and reviewed surveillance video, allowing them to identify the suspect as David Young of Hesperia. Young was located about 6 a.m. Wednesday in Desert Hot Springs and arrested.
Police searched Young’s vehicle and located “evidence linking him to the sexual assault in Burbank,” Burbank Police Department Sgt. Brent Fekety said. Young was arrested for suspicion of rape and felony burglary. He is being held on $1 million bail.
Investigators said they believe there may be additional victims of Young and are inquiring with surrounding agencies about similar cases, according to Fekety.
Young is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
