A jail inmate suspected of robbery who escaped while being escorted to a bus on the grounds of the sheriff’s West Hollywood Station on Friday was found and arrested after being at large for more than 10 hours.

The man — later identified by authorities as 22-year-old Jeremiah Pike — escaped while in a loading area at the station in the 700 block of North San Vicente Boulevard shortly before 7 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported. Authorities also noted the escape occurred while Pike was being taken to court.

Deputies set up a perimeter in the area, though were unable to find the inmate in the surrounding area. CBS2 reported surveillance video captured Pike using a black T-shirt to cover his handcuffed hands as he stood nearby a business, in which he allegedly entered and asked for permission to use a phone.

Additional surveillance footage appeared to show Pike entering a ride share with an unidentified person, but the sheriff’s department could not confirm if deputies were searching for additional suspects in Pike’s alleged escape.

Pike was located and arrested about 5:45 p.m. in the 6300 block of Glade Avenue, near Topanga Canyon Boulevard, in Woodland Hills, Deputy Veronica Fantom of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau told City News Service.
