Authorities sought the public’s help Thursday to identity five suspects who attacked a man while he was walking with his family in Glendale.
The man was walking with two family members in the area of South Central Avenue and Americana Way, near the Americana At Brand, about 6:30 p.m. June 19 when they walked by the suspects “who were smoking and sitting at outside tables of a business,” according to the Glendale Police Department.
The suspects “appeared to blow their smoke towards the victims” as they walked by, and the man asked them to stop smoking as his family passed. Later, the family encountered the group of suspects a second time, and they challenged the man to a fight.
“One of the male suspects revealed a hammer in his backpack and said, ‘I’m gonna pop you in the face,”‘ according to Glendale police. “Another suspect punched the (man) in the face.”
Police said the suspects struck the man several times in the face and body before fleeing into the mall.
The suspects were only described as four males and one female. No further details were released.
