The Los Angeles Ethics Commission Wednesday approved a total of $8,750 in fines for alleged governmental ethics and lobbying violations.
Former Los Angeles Information and Technology Agency employee Jaime Garcia was fined $3,750 for allegedly misusing his position for his own benefit by engaging in non-work-related activities and submitting falsified time records between Sept. 21 and Dec. 3, 2021, according to the Ethics Commission, which said Garcia admitted to the wrongdoing.
The commission also fined Veronica Becerra, owner of the commercial real estate company Rabuild Commercial Services, LLC, for allegedly failing to register as a lobbyist and file disclosure reports. She and Rabuild were fined $5,000, and she filed required registration and amended disclosure reports, the Ethics Commission reported.
The fines will be paid to the city’s general fund.
