A woman and boy were killed in what investigators believed was a domestic shooting in Baldwin Park, authorities said Monday.

The shooting was reported at 9:22 p.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Merced Avenue, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics took the boy — whose age was not disclosed — to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Koerner said. The victims’ names were withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Baldwin Park police responding to multiple calls of gunshots heard in the area found the woman and the boy in the backyard suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper torsos, he said.

“Detectives believe this is a domestic related incident, and the suspect fled the scene,” Koerner said.

Detectives did not release the name of the suspect.

Anyone with information was asked to call detectives at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
