Costa Mesa police Friday sought the public’s help to find a man who allegedly targeted several women outside bars using “vulgar and explicit language” and assaulted several people.
“Johnny Young, a self-described involuntary celibate, is wanted in connection to several hate crimes,” police said in an Instagram post.
“Young has confronted several females outside of bars in Costa Mesa using vulgar and explicit language,” police said. “These confrontations have led to him assaulting several people.”
Young is known to drive a Chevrolet cargo van with a green stripe, police said.
According to police an “involuntary celibate,” or “incel,” is “a person who regards himself or herself as being involuntarily celibate and typically expresses extreme resentment and hostility towards those who are sexually active.”
According to Fox11, Young is a 25-year-old from Las Vegas who reportedly films himself using sexually explicit language, and in one video, he allegedly pepper-sprayed two women and harassed another at a nearby parking garage.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts was urged to call police at 714-754-4908.
