The Coroner’s Office on Saturday released the name of a 54-year-old man who was struck and killed by a Metro A Line train in the Florence-Firestone area of Los Angeles County.

The man was identified as Herculano Marcial Garcia, of Los Angeles, according to the coroner’s office.

Garcia was hit about 11 a.m. Friday at the rail crossing near Gage and Holmes avenues, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Services Bureau.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rail service was interrupted on the A Line, formerly known as the Blue Line, between the Florence and the Slauson stations, and bus shuttles were arranged to assist rail passengers. The investigation was continuing.
