Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department investigators have arrested a Pasadena resident, who they believe has ties to high school sports programs in the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles, for alleged lewd acts with a child.

Alexander Rahsaan Miles, 42, was arrested April 15 by deputies who were investigating a report of sexual abuse involving a 13-year-old girl, according to jail records and an LASD bulletin.

Sheriff’s detectives believe Miles “was communicating with many individuals, mostly female” via the social media platform Snapchat.

According to investigators, the victim said Miles reached out to her on Snapchat in October and November 2021. He allegedly offered alcohol and drugs in exchange for sexually explicit pictures and videos of the teen.

Deputies believe Miles was a basketball coach at high schools in the San Gabriel Valley, and he was also a high school basketball referee in the Los Angeles area.

The LASD urges victims of Miles or anyone with information on incidents of child sexual abuse involving the suspect to contact Detective S. French at 323-526-5154, or Sgt. D. Payne at 323-526-5154. Anonymous tips may be provided via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), through the P3Tips mobile app or lacrimestoppers.org.

Miles’ next scheduled court appearance is May 3 in Pasadena.
