A man was killed Tuesday in Long Beach in a shooting that detectives believe was gang-related, police said.
The shooting was reported at about 12:45 a.m. at South Street and Linden Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he died. Information on his identity was not immediately available.
According to the preliminary investigation, the man was approached by one or more suspects, and there was a “verbal dispute,” police said.
“That dispute led to a physical fight, which escalated into a shooting,” police said. “At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is believed to be gang-related.”
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call homicide detectives at 562-570-7244, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
