Avelo Airlines will be adding flights from Burbank to Boise Idaho.
Low-cost carrier Avelo Airlines announced Monday it will add two more flights per week to its upcoming service between Hollywood Burbank Airport and Boise, Idaho.
The move will double the number of flights planned by the carrier between the two cities. Avelo initially announced plans for twice-weekly flights between Burbank and Boise, with the service set to begin May 24.
The two additional weekly flights will be added June 18, according to the airline.
A new AI tool may help predict heart attacks
Cedars-Sinai researchers say they’ve developed an artificial intelligence-enabled tool that could help predict if a person will have a heart attack.
First reported in The Lancet Digital Health, Cedars officials said the tool has accurately predicted which patients would experience a heart attack within five years, with the predictions based on the amount and composition of plaque in arteries supplying blood to the heart.
LA City Council supported a ballot measure combating plastic pollution
The Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday to officially support a statewide ballot initiative to require the CalRecycle program to adopt and enforce provisions to reduce single-use plastic packaging and require producers to pay for plastic pollution cleanup and waste management.
“It’s estimated that by the year 2050 there will be more plastics in the ocean than there will be fish, and yet, year after year, every common sense measure that we try to get enacted through the California state Legislature or through Washington, D.C. is killed by the plastics industry, the petroleum industry, which continues to cram plastics down the throats of societies throughout the world,” Councilman Paul Krekorian said Tuesday.
