The Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education will re-open its meetings to the public for in-person attendance beginning April 5, board President Kelly Gonez said Tuesday.
Gonez said the meeting room at LAUSD headquarters, 333 S. Beaudry Ave., will be limited to reduced audience capacity to allow for social distancing. Attendees will also be asked basic screening questions to ensure they have not been exposed to COVID-19, she said.
Mask-wearing will be strongly recommended for audience members, but not required.
According to Gonez, the board will continue to allow the public to speak during meetings telephonically.
The general public comment session — for people to bring up issues not on the board’s agenda — will be held at a set time of 4 p.m. during each meeting, she said.
