he world-renowned Kinsey African American Art and History Collection, billed as one of the largest exhibitions of its kind, will go on display later this month at SoFi Stadium, marking the first time the well- traveled exhibition has been located in such a venue.

The collection is the result of more than 50 years of accumulation by Bernard and Shirley Kinsey, and their son Khalil, including works of fine art illustrating and documenting the Black experience and telling stories of “Black excellence throughout U.S. history.” It traces the lives and history of Black Americans from the 16th Century through the present.

The exhibition has toured more than 30 cities domestically and internationally over 15 years. It includes works by artists including Charles Ethan Porter, Elizabeth Catlett, Romare Bearden and May Howard Jackson, along with historical artifacts, such as letters from Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.

“We are honored to partner with the Kroenke Family Foundation and the Hollywood Park Foundation and to bring the first ever art collection to SoFi Stadium,” according to a statement from the Kinsey family. “We couldn’t be more excited to share the collection with our hometown of Los Angeles and look forward to providing an experience that educates, inspires and motivates.”

The exhibition will open Feb. 23 and remain on display through April, featuring 70 works of art, sculptures, photos, books and letters, along with what is described as an “interactive experience.”

Tickets will go on sale Friday at sofistadium.com/kinsey/. Proceeds will benefit the newly established Hollywood Park Foundation, which supports youth programs in science, technology, engineering, arts and math, along with health and wellness.

“The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection is an award- winning exhibit, and we are proud to bring this comprehensive collection to SoFi Stadium and our community,” Jason Witt, senior director of community affairs and engagement for SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, said in a statement. “We could not think of a more fitting initiative to launch our Hollywood Park Foundation, which will support education, arts, health and wellness. This collection will help us celebrate African American achievements with the Kinsey family.”
