A man suspected of fatally shooting a person in San Bernardino County was in custody Tuesday after leading police on a chase from Ontario to North Hollywood.
Ontario police went to the 1700 block of East D Street at about 11:25 p.m. Monday on a report of a possible shooting, the Ontario Police Department reported.
“The suspect, Gilbert Conorquie, a 31-year-old North Hollywood resident, was involved in an altercation with the victim in front of a residence,” police said in a statement. “During the altercation, Conorquie shot the victim multiple times and fled the scene.”
Information on the identity or gender of the wounded person, who died at the scene, was not immediately available.
“Officers responding to the call saw Conorquie drive away from the location at a high rate of speed,” police said. “Conorquie refused to yield, at which time a vehicle pursuit began. The pursuit ended in the city of North Hollywood, when Conorquie decided to pull over and comply with officers.”
Conorquie was booked on suspicion of murder, felony evading, and weapons violations. A firearm was recovered from his vehicle, police said.
