A former principal at schools in Inglewood and Pasadena has pleaded guilty to misappropriation of public funds, forgery and grand theft.

Kyle Douglas, now 51, was ordered to pay $67,700 in restitution, along with 120 days of community service and three years probation in connection with his plea last Friday, according to Greg Risling with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The case, filed last February, stemmed from allegations that Douglas negotiated a contract with a company for private use of Inglewood High School’s parking lot in 2017 while he was the principal there and that Douglas allegedly collected about $10,000 for a student trip to China and never paid the company he hired to organize the trip while working as the principal at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Pasadena two years later, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

“Betraying students, their parents and school administrators is the ultimate failure for those who are the face and voice of a school,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement last year in which the charges were announced.
