A man was hospitalized Monday with severe burns after an explosion inside a possible makeshift drug laboratory in Arcadia, police said.
Arcadia police and fire personnel were called at 2:23 p.m. to the 11700 block of Goldring Road where they located the victim suffering from burns from the explosion, police said.
Lt. Jason Davis of the Arcadia Police Department said investigators determined that the blast may be related to a lab that was extracting butane honey oil or butane hash oil, a concentrated extraction of cannabis.
A Los Angeles County Hazardous Material team was contacted to dismantle the lab, Davis said.
Butane hash oil often has a THC concentration of up to 90%, making it the most potent marijuana concentrate globally, according to PrecisionExtraction.com.
Anyone with information on the explosion is asked to contact the Arcadia Police Department at 626-574-5151, case number 22-0117.
