Bob Saget, comedian and actor, best known for playing Danny Tanner — the father — on the sitcom “Full House,” was found dead Sunday in an Orlando, Fla. hotel room.
Saget was 65. He was in Florida as part of his nationwide comedy tour.
Authorities found no evidence of foul play or drug use. The cause of death will be determined in an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office, authorities said.
“Full House” ran for eight seasons. Saget told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview that it was an accident he got hired on the show. He said he was fired from CBS and was asked to be on the show.
“I’m close with all the kids (on the show). It doesn’t happen a lot in the world where you stay close with all the people,” Saget told Tapper. “We’re an unusual cast in that way that I have been able to remain close with everybody because I don’t take eight years of my life lightly and the other five or six years, six seasons.”
John Stamos, his costar on Full House tweeted, “I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby.”
Following “Full House,” Saget worked steadily in film and television roles. He became known on CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother” as a narrator and the voice of Ted Mosby.
