Les Rivera, who has been a pilot since 1987 and has conducted worldwide and domestic passenger flights with more than 28,000 total flying hours under his belt, was recently appointed by Councilmember Gene Masuda to represent District 4 on the Board of Directors for Pasadena Media, also known as the Pasadena Community Access Corporation.

“His professional background includes being an airline pilot for United Airlines and a representative for the Air Line Pilots Association. Les will serve, contribute and be dedicated as a team member of PCAC,” said Councilmember Gene Masuda.

Rivera is a “serial entrepreneur” who loves the challenges of building businesses and flipping them for profit. He formerly owned a laundromat business, was a concert/festival promoter/media publicist of New York Puerto Rican style salsa music and dance and was an editor/marketer of an online airline and travel news publication.

“We’re so pleased to have Les Rivera join our PCAC Board of Directors. As a member of the community, he’ll bring in a new and fresh perspective to the board and be a voice and advocate, not only for the community but for our organization as well,” said Executive Director CEO George Falardeau.

Rivera served on ALPA (Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l) which has been the world’s largest airline pilot union for over 80 years. He also served in the airline training department as an instructor pilot (IP) on the DC-10 and the B727.

Along with his piloting experience, Rivera is devoted to working in the boxing ring as well, serving as a USA Boxing certified coach/referee for the cities of Oakland and San Leandro. He loves following the stock market, business news, science and technology, and owns a retired K9 German Shepherd named Chief.
