Drugs, `ghost gun’ allegedly found in stolen motorhome in N. Hollywood

A search inside a stolen motorhome in North Hollywood turned up some narcotics and what police said was a “ghost gun,” which led to the arrest of a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, authorities said Saturday.

Officers investigating community complaints about illegal parking in the area of Cahuenga Boulevard and Califa Street at about 8 a.m. Wednesday spotted a motorhome parked on the street without license plates and a covered vehicle identification (VIN) number, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Officers spoke to Ryan Andres, 31, the occupant inside the motorhome, obtained the VIN number and a records check revealed that the motorhome was stolen, they said.

Andres was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A search of the motorhome allegedly turned up narcotics and a “ghost gun,” which is an unregulated firearm that anyone can buy and build without a background check.

Detectives from the LAPD’s North Hollywood station urged anyone with information regarding the incident to call them at 818-754-8300.
