LASD to announce reward for Long Beach State student killed in Compton 4 years ago
In an effort to renew public interest and generate information regarding the killing of a Long Beach State University student, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives will have a press conference Tuesday morning in Compton on the four-year anniversary of the murder of Estephan Hernandez.
Friends and family will be joined by members of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at the site of a makeshift memorial for Hernandez, who was a 21-year-old honor student when he was killed, at 11 a.m. at East 148th Street between Bahama Avenue and Loness Avenue in Compton, said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez, Deputy of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
A $10,000 reward approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects.
