A man who stabbed two people in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles over the weekend remained at large Monday.

The crimes occurred on Saturday morning in the general area of Washington Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

At about 9:15 a.m. Saturday, officers responding to an assault-with-a- deadly-weapon call reported that a woman had been stopped by a suspect and stabbed in the upper body with a knife, the LAPD reported.

“She had stopped and took off her headphones, trying to understand what the suspect was yelling at her, when the suspect stabbed her,” police said in a statement. “The suspect fled on foot. Moments later another call was generated with the same description of the suspect, who was challenging people with a knife.”

About 20 minutes later, officers saw a person on a bus bench who was bleeding from the face, police said. Both victims were taken to hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police released security video of the suspect, described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark purple baggy shirt and gray baggy cargo shorts.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call detectives at 213-922-8235, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. To report a type anonymously online, go to lacrimestoppers.org.
