MADIA Tech: Learn of diagnostic research being done in the SGV

When walking through the local strip malls, charming old towns, and commercial districts of the cities in the San Gabriel Valley, it is easy to think that small shops and restaurants drive our economy. But in fact, there are many scientific, technology, and research companies that are established and growing in our environs.

Spectral Platforms is one such company. Established in 2011, it has been growing and developing diagnostic tools for rapid diagnoses of infectious pathogens ever since. Some of the tools it has developed can characterize the presence of a pathogen in five minutes, whereas established diagnostic practices may take up to 24 hours. That is why the company’s branding includes this cutline: “Rapid diagnosis. Saving lives. Cutting costs.”

Building a scientific research company that introduces innovative products and practices is no simple task. Expertise in microbiology is different than building a business. And advances in science and research tools over time can distract from or contribute acceleration to an existing business plan. The challenges of the practices of both science and business require patience and agility as well as expertise. Now you can meet and discuss these challenges with one who is doing it, Dr. Ravi Verma.

To better understand these challenges, MADIA Tech Launch will host a presentation from Spectral Platforms’ founder, Dr. Ravi Verma on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. If you are vaccinated, you can attend in person with a wonderful dinner prepared by Little Green Forks. The meeting will take place at the headquarters of Tanner Research,

1851 Huntington Dr., Duarte, CA. Order tickets from Eventbrite for $15.50 by noon Sept. 13, or for $20 at the door, seating is limited. And in the interest of these challenging and potentially infectious times, MADIA is hosting this as a hybrid meeting so you also have the option of attending online via Zoom; registration is required and link t to the event will be sent in advance. The Eventbrite registration link can be found at www.MADIAtech.org. Bring your friends and checkout the entrepreneurial scene at the heart of San Gabriel Valley. After the meeting, you can continue sharing ideas and networking with an after-event mingle at Morralito’s Mexican Grill, 1501 Huntington Drive in Duarte.
