Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control announced Friday it will be offering $20 adoptions throughout September as part of NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s Clear the Shelters 2021 pet adoption campaign.

“A huge `Thank you’ to NBC4 and Telemundo 52 for spreading the message that adoption is the best option and helping homeless pets find forever homes,” Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control Director Marcia Mayeda said.

The Clear the Shelters drive, which the city’s LA Animal Services is also participating in, began on Aug. 23 and runs through Sept. 19. L.A. County Animal Care and Control said that its promotions will run throughout the month, with $20 adoption fees for large dogs over 35 pounds and all cats at the department’s seven animal care centers. The fee includes adoption, vaccination, microchip and spay/neuter surgery.

People can schedule an appointment online, at bit.ly/3BF7G0L, to visit one of the animal care centers, where they can view all available animals and adopt on a first-come, first-served basis. Animals marked as “ready to go home” are already spayed or neutered and are available that day.
