Foreigner invites Urban Voices Project Choir to open Greek Theatre show
Foreigner, who is actively performing their show of hit songs called The Hits Orchestral, announced that they have invited the Urban Voices Project Choir to open their show on Oct. 1 at the Greek Theatre LA.
The Urban Voices Project is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring music directly to individuals marginalized by homelessness, mental health issues and unemployment in the Greater Los Angeles area. Their mission is fulfilled through music workshops in partnership with social, civic and healthcare organizations that men, women and families throughout LA can visit and participate in.
“As far as I’m concerned, music is not only the most powerful form of communication between the peoples of the world, but it provides a gateway that opens up a fantastic new dimension of feeling and creativity,” Foreigner guitarist and founding member Mick Jones said. “Anything we can do to provide our people with the tools to express themselves through music is our goal in this partnership.”
Additionally, Urban Voices Project is launching a fundraising campaign on September 13 entitled “Get us to the Greek” to support future performances. The campaign is raffling off four tickets to the Foreigner concert, including parking and access to the VIP Redwood Deck at the Greek Theatre.
“It is an honor to perform on the iconic Greek Theatre stage with such a legendary band,” said Leeav Sofer, Choir Director for Urban Voices Project. “Performances like this are meant to shift the narrative and humanize the perception of homelessness in today’s society, and we are grateful for this opportunity.”
Tickets for the event next month are starting at $45, plus applicable fees, each, and they are available on Ticketmaster.com. Along with admission tickets, VIP packages are also available and can be purchased on Foreigner’s official website.
